A Walk to Remember - Nicholas Sparks

A Walk to Remember is in the romance genre. It's in Landon Carter's perspective, retelling his high school years, taking the readers back to his memories. When he was in high school, he was one of the cool kids, not too cool but he was best friend with the most popular jock which automatically made him cool. Then there's a girl, Jamie Sullivan, whom he knew since they were little, but they weren't close friends. Jamie is the only daughter of the minister. Landon ends up having to be friend her and eventually they get closer and closer.
"I'd love to," she said, "on one condition."
I steadied myself, hoping it wasn't something too awful.
"Yes?"
"You have to promise me that you won't fall in love with me."
I liked the book because it was very emotional. Nicholas Sparks always make me cry! Although I've already seen the film prior to reading it I just knew that the book would be some how awesome too and I wasn't disappointed. I just love the story line and the fact that he didn't drag it on.. although maybe if it was a bit longer it would've been even better.

I would recommend this to any readers who's into these kind of romantic beautifully written kind of books. There's nothing explicit so even young readers can read it, of course that's if they can understand the actual feelings and emotions behind the words. Ten out of ten :)

Sign of the Cross - Chris Kuzneski

Sign of the Cross was recommended to me by a friend, and I must say, it was awesome.

The book is a like thriller/crime but at the same time information food for your brain, informing you stuff about Jesus and archaeology and facts that you'd never get taught in school. I liked it because the storyline was captivating and something interesting was always happening, which is probably why I finished it really quickly because I sort didn't let go off the book - no lies - and I really loved it. The author obviously spent a lot of research to write this book and I really appreciated it after reading because I learnt a lot of things from it. Also, Chris Kuzneski wrote it so that you're interested all the time, and he also uses a wide variety of vocabulary, but not toooo sophisticated that you get bored.

The book is basically about this archaeologist who finds this scroll which holds information which can possibly 'shake the very foundation' of the Catholic Church. And at the same time this was happening, 3 people were found dead, with only one similar pattern: they were killed the same way the Christ was.. they were crucified.. dun dun dun...

Again, I cannot stress enough on how interesting the book is, especially probably because I'm a bit of a book lover and also I'm Catholic. I recommend everyone our age and higher to read it. The reason why younger audience may not like it because it's quite gruesome but it's the reality of how Christ was killed so I had no problem with it but others may find it upsetting. It's a clever book.

Definitely 10/10!
really irrelevant but I thought it looked pretty..

read it, maybe?

Message in a Bottle - Nicholas Sparks

Message in a bottle is written by one of my favourite authors of all time, Nicholas Sparks. He wrote The Lucky One, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, which are great movie hits, and many more. The genre is romance which I guess what I read most of the times.
Message in a Bottle is about a single mother, Theresa Osborne, who finds a bottle washed along the shores, with a message inside. When she read the letter, it brought tears in her eyes. Her curiosity about the romantic author brought her to finding the author and finally meeting him.

I personally love this book. It was well written with the story line being amazing, it's a complete set. It's obvious that Nicholas Sparks is behind the novel as he shows his romantic and skillful narration, something we can all learn from, with his use of punctuation and vocabulary (which Ms Dolton urges us to use). I think what I enjoyed the most is the stuff that Nicholas Sparks writes about love that makes you go "aww" kind of thing..

"Someday you'll find someone special again. People who've been in love once usually do. It's in their nature."
Some of the things however, I read it and laugh because it's so cheesy, like the kind of things you see on tumblr nowadays. And this is why I enjoyed it because it was written in 1996 but is still the kind of thing people currently think about and wish for it to come true, not that I'm saying I think of stuff like that but people will relate to it.

It made me cry... So yeah it's a pretty good book. I'd recommend this book to someone mature because there are not-for-younger-readers scenes.

The Host - Stephanie Meyer

I am currently reading The Host, written by one of my favorite authors. So far, I'm finding the book quite complex and hard to get my head around. However, I am still reading it as the vocabulary used is good and will help me expand my vocabulary and possibly knowledge.

30/12/12 - I have given up.

Noughts And Crosses

Noughts and Crosses was written by Malorie Blackman, one of my favourite authors.

Noughts and Crosses determines the difference between black and white, how the World is different, and how lives are affected. Sephy and Calum are best friends, but Sephy's a Cross whilst Calum is just a Nought, a blanker. And they're best friends but the world does not accept this because of their skin colour.

Blackman really emphasizes the difference in their lifestyle, and she makes it emotive but really interesting. It was so emotional and I just wanted to keep on reading on, and it also had good vocabulary to learn from.

I would recommend it to anyone and everyone that is kind of mature because it may be a bit sensitive and contains inappropriate language and stuff.. 5/5

Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer

Book Summary

In the book Eclipse, the third book of Twilight Saga, it challenges the trust and support between the Vampires and the Werewolves. Victoria, who was the mate of James (who the Cullens killed in the book New Moon), wants revenge and therefore creates a Clan of her own. The newborns are the most violent in their early lie, and Victoria trains them to destroy Bella Swan.

The killings and mysterious un-seen people went out of control, the Cullens found the need to step in before the Volturi did. However, the newborns were too many to defeat only with the Cullens so they asked the Werewolves for help. The Werewolves understandingly agreed to help them as they believe it is their responsibility to protect the humans too. Therefore, the two gather for training, finding it quite amusing and fun, whilst some still think they will always be monsters or dogs.

Then, the moment they have been preparing for finally arrived. With Bella, Edward and Jacob up in the mountains to stay safe, all they could do was wait until it was all over. There were a lot of newborns than expected and they were more vicious too. Despite the newborns thirst, the trained and experienced Werewolves and Vampires defeat the newborn army. Then the Volturies just watched as it happened. Ultimately, they finally found out that it was Victoria behind all the common and live their lives as it was, only with a stronger connection and relationship as before.

Review

I found myself having sleepless nights as it just made me turn the book every minute. I think Stephanie really used her describing knowledge the most in this book, having to describe everything to make it more scary and dramatic  And I guess it succeeded as even while reading, I did get an occasionally shiver. It was really exciting to see a different side of the Werewolves and Vampires. I personally loved the part when Jacob  kissed Bella, and when Edward found out about it, they had their mini-argument. I loved it, and I couldn't help myself from giggling and smiling and it was just so cute.

Recommendation

Again, like the other previous books, I must say this book really needs a mature and an older audience. This is because there are a few scenes that aren't appropriate to young minds. Also, a reader that desires a thriller-page-turner book ought to grab this book. It's mixed with adventure, horror and all sorts.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Book Title: Twilight
Author: Stephanie Meyer
Main Characters: Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, Charlie Swan.

Twilight was written by Stephanie Meyer. It was the first book the series Twilight Saga. Twilight is about a girl who moves into the rainiest city in America. She finds herself struggling to cope with the life in her new home. Soon she started school and met Edward Cullen, from a mysterious family. However, she did not know that the family was hiding a very dark secret... They were vampires.

The book is an amazing book as it has romance, fiction characters, and adventure in it. I like Twilight is a page-turner, it has an adventure in every page. If I had to rate it I would rate it a 5 star  I recommend the book to romance and adventure lovers. However, it is not suitable for young readers as it has inappropriate contents.
